China Merchants Bank, founded in 1987 in Shekou, Shenzhen, is the first joint-stock commercial bank in China wholly owned by corporate entities, and the first pilot bank by the state to promote banking reform from outside the system. Since 2012 first entered the Fortune 500, it has been shortlisted for seven consecutive years, ranking 213 on the Fortune Global 500 in 2018. On January 13, 2020, it was selected into the 2020 Hurun Best Products Award List. In March 2020, it was selected as the 74th of the top 500 global brands by value in 2020.
