The new CCTV building
CCTV Headquarters is located at No. 32 Eastern 3rd Ring Middle Road, Chaoyang District, Beijing, which is situated in Beijing Business Central District (CBD), adjacent to Beijing State Trade Building. CCTV Headquarters covers a plot area of 187,000 square meters, the total floor area of about 550,000 square meters, including the main building consists of two towers with 52-story and 234 meters high and 44-story and 194 meters high, and with 10-storey podium building, which is intersected by a large cantilever of a 14-story steel structure with a large span extending at an altitude of 162 meters and a weight of 18,000 tons. The total amount of steel used is 140,000 tons. The north building is 159 meters high, with 30 stories in the main building and 5 stories in the podium. The CCTV Headquarters was named one of the world's top 10 wonders of architecture by American Time magazine on December 24, 2007, won the 2013 Global Best High-rise Building Award by Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) on November 7, 2013, and was named one of the top 10 contemporary buildings in April 2014.
